Drug addiction means a strong attraction to take any kind of harmful drug to get exciting feelings. It is a curse of modern civilization. It is now a global problem.Normally, it is formed as a bad habit of using non-prescribed medicine. Opium, Heroin, Morphine, Yaba, Phensidyl, etc. are the main drugs taken in our country. There are many reasons for this. Firstly, frustration is responsible for drug addiction. Secondly, lack of family ties is also responsible for it. Thirdly, failure in love causes addiction. Besides, a bad companion also helps one to form this habit. There are many negative impacts of drug addiction. Drugs create some kind of dreamlike feeling, and the drug taker forgets everything for some moments. It causes a lot of harm not only to the addicts but also to society and the nation. Drugs affect the human body terribly. The addicts feel drowsy and their nerve system gradually becomes weak causing damage to their brain. Drugs lead the addict to death. When the addict fails to arrange money to buy drugs, he commits various kinds of social crimes and becomes dependent on others. Now the problem is getting out of control day by day. Both the government and non-government agencies should come forward to increase awareness of this. Parents may cure their addicted children to help them to live a happy and peaceful life in society.

মাদকাসক্তি মানে উত্তেজনাপূর্ণ অনুভূতি পেতে যেকোনো ধরনের ক্ষতিকর মাদক গ্রহণের প্রতি প্রবল আকর্ষণ। এটা আধুনিক সভ্যতার অভিশাপ। এটি এখন একটি বিশ্বব্যাপী সমস্যা। সাধারণত, এটি অ-নির্ধারিত ওষুধ ব্যবহার করার একটি খারাপ অভ্যাস হিসাবে গঠিত হয়। আফিম, হেরোইন, মরফিন, ইয়াবা, ফেনসিডিল ইত্যাদি আমাদের দেশে নেওয়া প্রধান মাদক। এই জন্য অনেক কারণ আছে। প্রথমত, মাদকাসক্তির জন্য হতাশা দায়ী। দ্বিতীয়ত, পারিবারিক বন্ধনের অভাবও এর জন্য দায়ী। তৃতীয়ত, প্রেমে ব্যর্থতা আসক্তি সৃষ্টি করে। এছাড়া একজন খারাপ সঙ্গীও একজনকে এই অভ্যাস গড়ে তুলতে সাহায্য করে। মাদকাসক্তির অনেক নেতিবাচক প্রভাব রয়েছে। মাদক একধরনের স্বপ্নের মতো অনুভূতি তৈরি করে এবং মাদক সেবনকারী কিছু মুহূর্তের জন্য সবকিছু ভুলে যায়। এটা শুধু আসক্তদেরই নয়, সমাজ ও জাতিরও অনেক ক্ষতি করে। মাদক মানবদেহে মারাত্মক প্রভাব ফেলে। আসক্তরা তন্দ্রাচ্ছন্ন বোধ করে এবং তাদের স্নায়ুতন্ত্র ধীরে ধীরে দুর্বল হয়ে তাদের মস্তিষ্কের ক্ষতি করে। মাদকাসক্ত ব্যক্তিকে মৃত্যুর দিকে নিয়ে যায়। মাদকাসক্ত ব্যক্তি যখন মাদক কেনার অর্থের ব্যবস্থা করতে ব্যর্থ হয়, তখন সে বিভিন্ন ধরনের সামাজিক অপরাধ করে এবং অন্যের ওপর নির্ভরশীল হয়ে পড়ে। এখন সমস্যা দিন দিন নিয়ন্ত্রণের বাইরে চলে যাচ্ছে। এ বিষয়ে সচেতনতা বাড়াতে সরকারি-বেসরকারি উভয় সংস্থাকে এগিয়ে আসতে হবে। পিতামাতারা তাদের মাদকাসক্ত শিশুদের নিরাময় করতে পারে যাতে তারা সমাজে সুখী ও শান্তিপূর্ণ জীবনযাপন করতে পারে।
